Finally, the wedding. The whole reason we were in Buffalo to begin with. MadHatter was so excited. She had been looking forward to this day for the past year, more so than anyone save the bride and groom, I think. She even talked her Papa into letting her have her hair done at the salon. She kept asking me all day if it was time yet, and finally, it was. They treated her like a princess while they combed, curled and shellacked her hair into place. She was very specific about what she wanted, "I want waves. Not curls like Stinkerbell's, just waves. And I want them all over. Not like Stinkerbell's that are only at the ends". (Note to self - start taking more care of the curls that Stinkerbell has - all over). We headed back in time to rush around getting everyone dressed and ready in time for me to take a picture or two. I had about 5 minutes, now would I have cooperative girls? The answer was - Not really. Though I did get a few pics.
We were off to the church and the girls were so excited. This was a first for both of them. Technically MadHatter went to another wedding but since she was only 6 months old at the time we don't count it. They waited patiently for the service to start. And then they watched in silent awe as the processional started and beautiful girls and dapper men started down the aisle. They sat as well as could be expected for the 45 minute service and couldn't stop talking about it when they made it back outside.
While the wedding party took pictures, the girls were dropped off with their baby sitter. All settled in, we were off to party. It was unusually hot and humid in Buffalo that week. And the reception was held in an historic landmark (no air conditioning) which made for some very sweaty, and thirsty, people. But no bother - the family was together, the bride and groom were resplendent and the liquor was flowing. The perfect combination for having a good time. And a good time we had.
