After my last post, and how heavy it was, I thought I could use a little lightness. And it showed up in the form of a munchkin who dressed herself in her older sisters ballet tutu and proceeded to go about her day. No dancing for this munchkin, in this outfit - "It too nice Mama". Instead we posed, we read a book or two and brushed our teeth before getting down to the business of dancing that day. Which we do, every day, in some form or another.

So proud that she got it on by herself. |

She is adamant that she can brush all by herself. |
So, if you would like to see her dance, just hang around for a couple of minutes. She doesn't go very long without busting a move. I love that she doesn't care that she dances like her Mama (trust me, this should embarrass her). She just knows that she hears the beat and has to move. Wherever. Whenever. Sometimes I think we should all take a cue from the youngest, and least jaded of us all, and just break into dance/song when the spirit moves us. Sure we would get some funny looks at first but it would be freeing. Maybe take a bit of the tightness out of our necks that our daily stresses cause if we bopped our heads to the music more. Perhaps allow us to drop some of the weight that rests upon our shoulders if we just shook it all out in dance. But most of us lose the ability to express our feeling, thoughts, even our movements, freely somewhere in early childhood. And that makes me a bit sad. Most of us also lose the ability to do this too...

That doesn't make me sad, since it looks like it hurts (she swears it doesn't). Today, when you hear the music, take a moment to dance. Grab a partner if it will get you in the mood. Don't think about where you are or who is watching. Just dance.
Thanks for posting this and making me realize I need to dance more! What time shall we meet to boogie?? :)
ReplyDeleteLet's do it Saturday, at Julie's dinner. Just us and see who joins in...
